Advocate P.K.Ibrahim B.A. (Hons), LL.B (Hons) passed out from Aligarh Muslim University in the year 1981.He was elected as senior cabinet in the AMU students Union. He represented the University in the All India Moot Court Competition held at Govt. Law College, Ernakulam and won 2nd prize. He joined Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for M.A. (international studies) in 1982. While pursuing his studies, he was selected for legal training in the Supreme Court of India by the Bar Council of India Trust and was placed for training with Fellowship. He enrolled as Lawyer with Delhi Bar Council and joined Supreme Court Bar in 1982.He was Junior to Mr. Adersh Kumar Goyal, now Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana. He shifted his practice to Kerala High Court in 1987. Mr.Ibrahim was the convener of the All India Muslim Educational society –Youth wing during 1988-1989.
Adv.Ibrahim , with 27 years in the legal profession has proved his expertise in law in its many branches , namely Constitution of India, Administrative law, Civil law, Contract law, Service law, Arbitration law, Patent law, Copy Rights Act, University/Educational law, Family Law, Environmental law, Human rights law, etc and have been lawyer for many institutions. He held the legal briefs of many renowned personalities like Smt.Kamala Das alias Madavikutty alias Surayya, Novelist cum Poet.
Mr. Ibrahim is a versatile person and an activist in Environmental and Human Right issues. He was elected as Vice President of the Kerala High Court Bar Association in 2003. He was appointed as the Chairman of the Local Area Environment committee by the Kerala State Pollution Control Board at the behest of Supreme Court Monitoring Committee to conduct an environmental audit of 243 industries at Eloor – Edayar industrial belt. Supreme Court Monitoring Committee commented on his report as a model for all the State Pollution Control Boards in India to follow.
Adv P.K.Ibrahim has headed the panel constituted by the Environmental Co-ordination Committee of various organizations such as People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), Human Rights Defence Forum (HRDF), Periyar Malineekarana Virudha Samithi (PMVS), Kerala Nadi Samrakshana Samithi, and Thanal, to inspect 37 acres of land at Brahmapuram and report whether the proposed dumping site there is suitable for disposal of Municipal Solid Waste as per the Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986, the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the provisions of the Municipal Solid Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules, 2000.He was a member of the fact finding committee of the people’s initiative to study the human right violation in the Chengara Land Struggle of the Adivasies.
Adv.P.K.Ibrahim has spearheaded the people’s movement against genetically modified foods and had organized screening of ‘Poison in the platter’ a documentary produced by Bollywood star Mahesh Bhut.
Advocate Ibrahim was the secretary of the World Fellowship Of Inter-Religious Council (WFIRC) for 5 years and was a co-organizer of Many World Religious meet at Kannayakumari, Kochi, and Bangalore along with Justice Shamsudheen and Father Nambiyaparambil. He was recently been conferred Sai Samannuaya Award for excellence in human endeavour in the field of Communal Harmony of 2009.
Mr.Ibrahim is a member of Board of studies, Faculty of Law, Kannur University. He had also been a member Of Board of Studies, Faculty of law in the University of Calicut. He is the National Council member of People’s union for Civil liberties (PUCL) and President of Ernakulam District PUCL. He is the President of Human Rights Defence Forum, Kerala. He was a special invitee to the All India Muslim Personal Board meeting held at Calicut in July 2009.
